physical activity and DISability
The “Fundación Sanitas” Chair for Studies on Inclusive Sport (CEDI) is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (INEF), the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and the Sanitas Foundation, whose main objective is is to promote the initiation and promotion of sports in people with disabilities through inclusive contexts. With its creation, both institutions try to extend the benefits of sport to people with disabilities as a way to promote their health and quality of life.
Since October 2009, CEDI aims to be the point of reference in the dissemination, research, knowledge and best practices (if possible, based on evidence) of physical activities and adapted sports aimed at the health of people with disabilities.
In addition, it is dedicated to analyzing and disseminating the benefits, at all levels, of physical and sports activities for people with disabilities through the sensitization and awareness of all the agents involved, positioning itself in Spain as the benchmark institution for inclusive sports.
